Ask Abhishek Bachchan if he was happy to carry his dad Amitabh Bachchan around on his shoulders while shooting for R. Baalki's Paa, and the guy gets emotional.

"It was really nice carrying him," says Abhishek, adding that it got him really nostalgic. "As I child, I remember looking down at everyone as I would sit on my father's shoulder," he adds.

Abhishek gets emotional talking about his bond with his father and says this was one way he could relive memories. Only this time, he was the father. "And he (Amitabh) is a very naughty child!" he adds.

Interestingly, Abhishek adds that he is trying to figure a way to keep the equation between him and his father the same in real life as well!

Bollywood’s most glamourous married couple would not be in India for their second marriage anniversary on 20 April. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are off for a week long honeymoon to an undisclosed destination to bring in their vacation.

This week Abhishek Bachchan had just one day’s shooting for Balki’s much-discussed film Paa. For that he not only had to rush to Kuala Lampur but also had to completely change his look to a clean-shaven one in contrast to the droopy-mouche look that he sports for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan.


Says Abhishek, “The new clean-shaven look was needed. It was just one day’s shoot for Paa. Now for next week I have to go back to the earlier look for Mani’s look.”

Apparently the Raavan look is a hot favourite among Abhishek’s fans. He has had numerous requests to keep that look permanently. However he needs to sport another look for Abhinay Deo’s untitled film.

Piggy Chops the nickname AB coined for her was miffed with the actor's demand at a recent film awards event.

It is learnt that PC was approached to perform at the Filmfare awards. The Fashion actress agreed and also expressed her choice of song.

Meanwhile Abhishek also agreed to get jiggy at the event and voiced his choice of track. The problem arose when it was realised that both expressed a desire to dance to the same track.

Says a source, "Priyanka selected the track first. Later, Abhishek also wanted the same song. As he was performing after a long time, he wanted to get jiggy on this particular track."

This is when PC got a tad irritated. She was adamant about her choice, especially since she had expressed it first. But realising that there would be no headway, the actress backed out of performing at the event. As a result, Bipasha Basu was asked to perform.

Adds the source, "It was clear that Priyanka was irritated. She preferred to let the opportunity go than change her track. PC did not want to explain the situation to Abhishek she preferred to let him be and opt out herself. Their warm camaraderie has definitely gone kaput."

Priyanka's spokesperson says, "There was absolutely no issue with Abhishek. It's completely unrelated. There was some back and forth and the choice of songs for her to perform on. By the time it was sorted, it was too late for rehearsals, etc.

And Priyanka did not want to compromise on her act. She decided to opt out of performing at the awards."

Here's a secret about the much-anticipated Delhi- 6.
Abhishek Bachchan doesn't speak much in the film. In fact, Rakeysh Mehra lets out that Abhishek has barely 11 lines to speak in the whole film!



This makes Delhi 6 Abhishek's most silent performance to date. "He's quiet, very quiet in the film," admits director Rakeysh Mehra. "His character is more like a silent observer than a commentator."
At the film's screening at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York on Sunday evening, Delhi-6 got three standing ovations. "We were overwhelmed. Somewhere, the story of an American NRI's return to his roots connected with the New York audience. So far, our films about homecoming meant picture-postcard villages and sarson ke khet, as though 'home' was linked only to nostalgia. In Delhi-6, the protagonist comes home from one dynamic society in flux to another. I think that connected with the audiences in New York."

Indian megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, was honoured with World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Crystal Award at Davos recently, for his contribution to the world of art.


Noted Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer, Mallika Sarabhai, was also honoured along with Chinese martial artist and actor Jet Li and Venezuelan musician José Antonio Abreu.

The WEF is a non-profit organisation based in Geneva, which brings together top business and political leaders and selected intellectuals, to discuss the most pressing issues worldwide. This year marks the 39th annual gathering of the organisation.

Abhishek Bachchan returned to Delhi with the crew from Tikamgarh (close to Jhansi) where he was shooting for the film one morning recently. The actor spent some time at sister Shweta’s place before taking an afternoon flight to Mumbai. We hear, he’s off to New York next.
